The Indian government's collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) marks a significant stride forward in workforce development, as both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya participated in the virtual event, witnessing the agreement aimed at developing an 'International Reference Classification of Occupations'.
This MoU is expected to bridge global skill gaps, particularly as countries face challenges related to demographic shifts and automation. By focusing on well-managed skill-based migration pathways, the initiative seeks to bolster employment opportunities for youth worldwide, as highlighted during India's G20 presidency in 2023.
Minister Mandaviya underscored the imperative of India's growing formal economy and employment initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, promising millions of formal sector jobs. Emphasizing digital innovation, Mandaviya promoted India's digital platforms, the National Career Service and e-Shram Portals, as exemplary models of international collaboration.
