A major drive aimed at boosting financial inclusivity across India has seen over 2.3 lakh camps organized by mid-September. The finance ministry confirmed that the Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign, which started on July 1, has completed two and a half months with significant milestones.
According to the ministry, the effort has notably led to the opening of more than 61 lakh Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts. Moreover, over 2.6 crore individuals have been newly registered under three primary Jan Suraksha social security schemes, denoting a strong move towards universal financial inclusion.
The campaign's primary aim, as noted by the Department of Financial Services, is to extend flagship financial schemes to the remotest populations. Alongside opening accounts, awareness initiatives are being conducted on digital frauds and grievance redressal, contributing to comprehensive community engagement.
