A shocking incident unfolded in Pimpri-Chinchwad's freshly inaugurated mall as a young female security guard, aged 21, was allegedly sexually assaulted by her senior officer, according to a police report disclosed on Tuesday. The officer in question, Manoj Kadam, 45 years old, has been apprehended by the Wakad Police.
Sunil Kurhade, Assistant Commissioner of Police in Pimpri Chinchwad, revealed that the incident took place on September 10, but the formal complaint reached authorities by September 11. Kadam, identified as a resident of Chikhali, Pimpri Chinchwad, was detained by the Wakad Police's Detection Branch shortly thereafter. Officers shared that Kadam allegedly coerced the victim to the mall's third floor under the guise of meeting an important client. He dismissed other staff members, allegedly offering her a promotion and salary increase as pretexts before making unwanted advances.
Bravely resisting, the victim managed to escape his clutches. Despite threats from Kadam, she reported the incident to the police with her husband's and colleagues' support. Consequently, charges were filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically sections 64, 68 (A), and 68 (C). Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing concerning the matter.
