The Delhi Police interrogated Gaganpreet Kaur's husband, Parikshit Kakkar, following his arrival at the police station to assist with the BMW accident investigation. Kakkar expressed his inability to comprehend the accident's occurrence, stating that his wife claimed she was transporting the victim for medical assistance. Kakkar informed his father-in-law about the need for treatment before taking a taxi to the hospital, according to police sources.

Parikshit stated, 'My wife informed me she was accompanying them. I notified my father-in-law about the necessity for medical attention, clarifying they were en route. Subsequently, I departed in another taxi.' The Delhi Police is now in the process of corroborating his account alongside other collected evidence to authenticate the event sequence.

The accused driver, Gaganpreet Kaur, was arrested on charges of allegedly striking a motorcycle carrying Navjot Singh, a senior finance ministry official, resulting in his tragic death and injuring his wife, Sandeep Kaur. The crash transpired near the Delhi Cantonment metro station as Gaganpreet's BMW collided with Singh's bike.

Kaur claimed panic led her to drive the victims to GTB Nagar Hospital, 20 kilometers away, a decision influenced by her children's prior admission during the COVID-19 pandemic. She faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and evidence tampering under the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita.

Meanwhile, Singh's family questioned the decision to bypass closer hospitals like RR Hospital or RML Hospital. The investigation intensified with the Forensic Science Laboratory team's arrival at the Delhi Cantt Police Station to examine the seized vehicle.

Speaking to ANI, Gaurav Ostwal said, 'We are inspecting the car by FSL protocols. A complete analysis of dent and scratch marks is underway. Conclusions will follow completion of the analysis.' In the interim, Navjot Singh's remains were prepared for last rites post the fatal BMW accident on September 14. He was traveling on a two-wheeler with his wife during the collision.

Gaganpreet Kaur, who remains in a two-day judicial custody, filed a bail application citing the crash as an 'unintentional and wholly accidental' event. Her defense emphasized her role as a mother of two minors, her clean criminal record, and her own head injury sustained during the accident.

The bail application submitted under Section 480 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, argues against the necessity of custodial interrogation, citing her full cooperation with authorities, established societal ties, and no risk of fleeing or altering evidence. Duty Judicial Magistrate Akanksha Singh has remanded Kaur to two days' judicial custody and issued a bail hearing notice for September 17. The court ensured she would receive appropriate medical care in custody. (ANI)
