In a significant push for environmental conservation, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led a tree plantation initiative at the garden behind Sabarmati Jail, Ranip Ward, as part of Ahmedabad's extensive 'Mission Four Million Trees' campaign. This effort underscores a broader commitment to a Greener Gujarat, as highlighted by the state's Chief Minister's Office.
The ambitious initiative, organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, targeted increasing the urban green cover. By early September, the campaign successfully planted 40,80,180 saplings, attributed to meticulous planning and effective execution. Citizens were actively encouraged to plant trees, protect them, and contribute to the state's green future.
Concurrently, religious and community-driven planting events took place, involving distribution of 54,883 tulsi plants and religiously significant trees. On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, 12,820 tulsi plants were distributed at various religious sites. Advanced techniques such as Google Maps identification and LIDAR technology are utilized to monitor these efforts, with intentions to plant 14,000 more trees using the Miyawaki method, involving diverse community stakeholders.
