Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh is witnessing a significant initiative for rehabilitation under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). A solid brick house has been provided to a widow, Savita Yadav, a victim of the ongoing Naxal insurgency, as part of this special project aimed at aiding victims and former Naxals.
District Panchayat CEO, Nayantara Singh Tomar, revealed that 25 houses have been sanctioned for beneficiaries, comprising 19 Naxal victims and six ex-Naxals. Savita Yadav's house in the village of Jokapath marks the first completed house under this initiative, setting a precedent for the district's rehabilitation objectives.
Savita's husband was branded a police informer and killed by Naxals in 2006. Facing severe financial hardship, she supported her family as a laborer while residing in a makeshift dwelling. The provision of a permanent residence is a beacon of hope, highlighting the state's commitment to assist those affected by the conflict.
