Bharatiya Janata Party leader Boora Narsaiah Goud has sharply criticized the United States for imposing a $100,000 fee on H1B visas, a decision he believes will negatively impact the American economy more than its Indian counterpart. Goud lambasted the move as economically harmful during a press briefing.
He called for political unity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, turning this challenge into a growth opportunity. Goud highlighted India's past success in becoming self-reliant, especially when international sanctions threatened ISRO, India's space agency, for lack of cryogenic fuel supplies.
On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a significant overhaul of the H-1B visa program. Set to take effect on September 21, the new fee is framed as part of a crackdown on "systemic abuse," particularly targeting IT and tech firms accused of sidelining American workers in favor of skilled foreign labor.
