In a stark accusation, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has held the Tamil Nadu government responsible for the tragic stampede in Karur that resulted in 41 deaths. He criticized the administration's failure to provide sufficient security at the event, a measure which he claims could have averted the disaster.

Speaking to the press, the former Chief Minister argued that the ruling DMK government maintains unequal security practices at public gatherings, skewed in favor of ruling parties. 'The regime must ensure safety at all public functions,' he emphasized, underscoring the state's duty to protect its citizens during mass gatherings.

Palaniswami highlighted the discrepancy in police deployment, alleging preferential treatment for government-sponsored events compared to those organized by opposition parties. He pressed for accountability and warned of political consequences, forecasting that the electorate would sanction these missteps in future elections.
