Air India is poised to restart its China operations by the end of 2025, reinstating the Delhi to Shanghai route, as confirmed by sources to ANI. This decision coincides with recent statements from the Civil Aviation Ministry regarding resuming direct air services, targeting the winter schedule of the same year.

The Ministry's announcement underscores ongoing technical engagements between India and China, part of a broader stress on normalizing bilateral relationships. The resumption of flights is expected to greatly improve air connectivity, encouraging people-to-people exchanges and bolstering economic cooperation.

IndiGo has also revealed its plan to restart services to Mainland China with a daily non-stop flight from Kolkata to Guangzhou, commencing October 26, 2025. Subject to regulatory approvals, further routes are anticipated. This initiative aligns with discussions between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping to strengthen direct connectivity and visa facilitation.
