In a distressing revelation from Madhya Pradesh's renowned Kanha Tiger Reserve, the bodies of an adult tiger and two young cubs were found dead in separate locations on Thursday. Reserve officials have launched an investigation into these tragic events as the wildlife community mourns the loss.
The adult tiger's carcass was discovered in the Mukhi range, raising speculations about a territorial dispute, which often occurs among these majestic predators. Meanwhile, the two female cubs, only around two months old, were found lifeless in the Kanha range, victims of a suspected attack by another big cat.
''Preliminary post-mortem examinations suggest the cubs were attacked by a larger tiger. The adult tiger's death is believed to be from a territorial fight, with a full post-mortem scheduled for Friday,'' an official reported. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety and territorial dynamics within the reserve.
