Trump Warns of Federal Firings Amid Government Shutdown

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that federal workers could face firings and projects might be cut if the government shutdown persists. Speaking during an interview with OAN television, Trump attributed the blame to Congressional Democrats.

Trump warned that favored projects of Democrats could face permanent elimination, claiming authority to cut projects he believes should never have been approved.

As the shutdown commenced on Wednesday, the Office of Management and Budget circulated a memo raising the potential for firings, which Trump confirmed could occur if the deadlock continues.
