Government Redefines Renewable Energy Bidding: Stricter Compliance for Better Transparency

The government has directed renewable energy agencies to issue new bids for clean power projects, emphasizing the need for compliance with existing guidelines. This move comes after some bids were issued hastily, aiming to circumvent ALMM guidelines for cells.
Concerns were raised when certain agencies in the renewable sector issued bids with very short submission windows, sometimes as brief as seven days. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy identified this as an attempt to bypass the Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM) guidelines.
To uphold transparency and financial propriety, the ministry has stipulated that any bids not complying with General Financial Rules and Central Vigilance Commission regulations may be annulled and reissued. This ensures all bids align with the ALMM order, which aims to bolster domestic manufacturing and consumer interests.
