In a recent incident that shook the legal community, an attempt was made to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai during a Supreme Court session. Biju Janata Dal Vice-President Debu Prasad Mishra, while talking to ANI, condemned the attack, attributing it to the actions of a "lunatic." He praised CJI Gavai's composed response, emphasizing that it prevented further punitive measures against the assailant.

The incident involved a 71-year-old lawyer, Rakesh Kishore, who was immediately detained by security personnel after attempting the attack. According to sources, Kishore shouted anti-Supreme Court remarks while being escorted out. Despite criticism, Kishore remains unrepentant, citing dissatisfaction with a recent court ruling as his motivation.

The All India Judges Association (AIJA) voiced grave concerns over the attack, describing it as detrimental to judicial dignity and autonomy. The association reaffirmed its solidarity with CJI Gavai and expressed a commitment to upholding Supreme Court integrity, calling on legal professionals to maintain decorum and uphold ethical standards.
