As Trichy prepares for the festive season, a health-conscious 'Millet Diwali' is on the horizon, with local bakeries and sweet shops amplifying production of millet-based delicacies. In response to booming demand, sweet shop owner Sarvanan reported a significant increase in bulk orders, prompting a boost in production.
Known as 'the first crops' and 'crops of the future,' millets have gained notoriety as nutritional staples, requiring minimal resources and showcasing resilience against harsh conditions. Under Prime Minister Modi's guidance, the global millet movement has surged, culminating in the United Nations declaring 2023 the International Year of Millets.
Meanwhile, Virudhunagar's Sonny Vinayaga Fireworks is poised for a prosperous Diwali, with owner Abhishek optimistic about sales. Despite early festival timing, stable prices and innovative firecracker offerings, including child-friendly and thematic designs, are set to attract buyers, promising a profitable season.
