ED Raids Chennai's Sreesan Pharma Amid Coldrif Cough Syrup Uproar

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) intensified its probe into the deadly repercussions of the 'Coldrif' cough syrup by raiding seven locations connected to Sreesan Pharma in Chennai. This operation, part of a larger money laundering investigation, came in response to the alarming deaths of children linked to the syrup.

Simultaneous searches, launched from the ED's Chennai zonal office, targeted residences of top officials from the Tamil Nadu Drug Control Office. The focus remains on unearthing the financial trails that could reveal proceeds of crime tied to the manufacture and sale of the tainted medicine.

'Coldrif', declared substandard and banned in Delhi, contains dangerous levels of Diethylene Glycol. In a significant move, all distribution of this batch has been halted, emphasizing its health risks. Warrants are out following the court's remand of Sreesan Pharma owner S Ranganathan in connection with the tragic deaths.
