The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted extensive raids on Sresan Pharmaceuticals and Tamil Nadu FDA officials as part of a money laundering probe. This follows the tragic deaths of 22 children in Madhya Pradesh, attributed to Coldrif cough syrup manufactured by Sresan Pharmaceuticals.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation revealed that the syrup was contaminated with diethylene glycol, a toxic substance, leading to these fatalities. As investigations deepen, several regulatory officials in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have faced suspensions.
The owner of Sresan Pharmaceuticals was arrested, and a doctor connected with the case faces charges over the negligence. Authorities continue to scrutinize pharmaceutical oversight practices, urging tighter regulations to prevent such tragedies.
