A fire erupted at a plastic manufacturing facility in Thane district's industrial zone, Maharashtra, early Monday morning, officials reported.

No casualties have been reported from the blaze in Asangaon's Shahapur taluka around 10 am, with firefighting efforts ongoing, informed disaster management chief Vasant Chowdhari.

Four fire engines and 10 water tankers were dispatched promptly. The fire's persistence is attributed to the plastic materials, which slowly burn and release thick smoke. Investigations are underway to uncover the fire's cause, with suspicions of a short circuit or machinery overheating. Police have secured the area, evacuating nearby workers and residents as a safety measure.
