The global displacement crisis is worsening as over 4 million individuals are projected to be newly displaced by the end of the next year, warned the Danish Refugee Council on Thursday.
Currently, 117 million people are forcibly displaced globally, a consequence of 130 ongoing conflicts, a significant increase compared to the last century, as per the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The international aid that once served as a safety net is rapidly diminishing, leaving millions in distress, particularly in Sudan. With the war in its fourth year, the country expects an additional 670,000 displaced people due to escalating conflicts. Neighboring Chad may also see a cut in essential water and food supplies due to funding shortages, warned UN agencies.
