In a remarkable shift towards sustainable energy, nearly 11,000 consumers in western Odisha reported zero electricity bills in March 2026. This commendable feat was achieved after the widespread adoption of rooftop solar systems under the government-led PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

TP Western Odisha Distribution Ltd's (TPWODL) innovative 1-kW Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model played a pivotal role in this transition, facilitating solar installations that empowered 10,885 households to achieve zero electricity bills during the month. A total of 18,830 consumers had embraced this green solution by the end of March, showcasing a growing trend towards energy independence.

The solar scheme not only promises economic relief with financial assistance but also integrates smart technology for efficient energy management. These advancements highlight the substantial financial and environmental benefits of decentralized solar energy, fostering a self-sufficient energy landscape in western Odisha.
