Germany Faces Potential Oil Shortage Amidst Kazakh Supply Halt

Germany is poised to encounter a disruption in crude oil supply to its northeastern PCK Schwedt refinery, as the country's economy ministry announced on Wednesday that Kazakh oil shipments might cease starting May.

The move stems from Russia's plan to halt oil exports from Kazakhstan through the Druzhba pipeline, a decision that could directly affect one of Germany's largest refineries, which also supplies Berlin. While Rosneft, Schwedt's majority owner, has communicated this development to Germany's economy ministry, Russia has yet to confirm the halt officially.

Germany's Economy Ministry is working closely with Rosneft Deutschland to assess the situation and adapt to changes. Meanwhile, the ministry assured that the supply of petroleum products in Germany remains secure, even with the anticipated cessation of Kazakh deliveries.
