Andhra Pradesh's Solar Surge: Building a Brighter Future

In a significant boost to India's renewable energy sector, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for a Rs 5,400-crore ReNew solar manufacturing facility. The 6 GW plant, located in Anakapalli district, is anticipated to enhance the domestic solar supply chain.

During a public meeting, Naidu announced that the facility, spearheaded by Sumanth Sinha, son of former union minister Yashwanth Sinha, aims to minimize import reliance by producing critical upstream components such as ingots and wafers. The project is projected to create over 2,100 jobs and fuel regional industrial growth.

The Chief Minister also outlined ambitious plans for the state's renewable energy sector, including generating 160 GW of power by 2030. Naidu emphasized the role of electricity as an indicator of development and unveiled plans for solar units on 40 lakh homes, electric buses, and extensive infrastructure investments.
