Maharashtra Agri-Input Dealers Rally Against Coercive Policies

The Maharashtra Fertilizers, Pesticides, and Seeds Dealers Association (MAFDA), along with the All India Dealer Association (AIDA), has announced an indefinite statewide shutdown, highlighting concerns over rigorous enforcement impacting the supply of essential agricultural inputs to farmers.

Supported by a coalition of ten major national agri-input associations, a one-day shutdown is slated for April 27. This movement sees solidarity from over 10,000 manufacturers and 85,000 dealers, casting a spotlight on pressures to sell non-subsidized alongside subsidized products, threatening dealers with license cancellation for minor non-compliance.

Key industry figures, including OAMA President Vijay Thakur and IPNM SPC Convenor Suhas Buddhe, cite unjust enforcement practices harming genuine businesses. A meeting with the Agriculture Minister has been sought to propose regulatory reforms under the 'Make in India' initiative.
