Himachal Pradesh is experiencing unusual weather patterns with increasing temperatures as a fresh western disturbance is set to bring rain and thunderstorms, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Speaking to ANI, IMD senior scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma highlighted that the state, particularly its mid and low hill regions, is witnessing heatwave conditions.

In the last 24 hours, the weather has stayed mostly clear, with only light rainfall recorded in Sangla and isolated thunderstorms in northern areas. Una hit the highest temperature at 40 degrees Celsius, followed by Shimla at 27.2°C, Solan and Dharamshala around 33°C, and Kangra 36.4°C, all exceeding normal levels by 2-7 degrees.

The IMD issued a heatwave alert for areas like Una and Kangra on April 24. Meanwhile, light rain and thunderstorms are forecasted to hit Kangra, Chamba, and nearby districts as the western disturbance activates on April 25. The weather intensity is expected to drop on April 26 and 27 before rising again later in the month with renewed rainfall.
