Canada Greenlights $4 Billion Enbridge Pipeline Expansion

Canada has given the green light to a significant expansion project for Enbridge's Westcoast pipeline. This $4 billion investment will broaden the network by an additional 300 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

During its construction phase, the Sunrise Expansion Program aims to create about 2,500 jobs, engaging local communities and indigenous groups. Enbridge anticipates the project will inject more than $3 billion into the Canadian economy.

The initiative will involve constructing new pipeline segments, boosting compression capacity, and making necessary upgrades. Set to commence in July 2026, the project targets a completion date in late 2028. This follows a recent deal where Enbridge sold a 12.5% stake to an Indigenous alliance, supported by federal loans.
