Sasmit Patra, a Member of Parliament from Biju Janata Dal, has raised an alarm over worsening traffic conditions in Bhubaneswar caused by poorly planned road constructions. In a letter addressed to Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Patra highlighted that the lack of coordination in executing urban development projects is creating severe congestion, especially during peak traffic hours.
Patra expressed grave concerns about simultaneous work on major roads and junctions without proper traffic diversion strategies, leading to significant delays for commuters and emergency services. He underscored the absence of marked diversion routes and inadequate traffic personnel as escalating the daily challenges faced by residents, office goers, and students in the city.
The MP urged that a strategic overhaul involving improved coordination, marked diversions, and time-restricted road works could alleviate public distress. He called upon key municipal and police authorities to implement immediate corrective actions, emphasizing that a coordinated approach would sustain urban development while minimizing disruptions to daily life.
