Drone Strikes Ignite Tensions: Russian Fertilizer Plant Attacked
A Ukrainian drone attack damaged a Russian fertilizer plant in Vologda, injuring five people and hitting a sulphuric acid pipeline. The attack is part of a larger wave targeting various regions, with Russia's air defenses claiming to have intercepted over 250 drones. One person died and more were injured amid widespread damage.
In the latest escalation of cross-border attacks, a fertiliser plant in Russia's Vologda region was hit by a Ukrainian drone strike on Sunday, as confirmed by local governor Georgy Filimonov.
The attack targeted the Apatit complex, part of PhosAgro, Europe's largest phosphate-based fertiliser producer, damaging a high-pressure sulphuric acid pipeline and injuring five individuals. Authorities assured that hazardous chemical releases have been contained.
Simultaneously, Russian defense forces reported intercepting over 250 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions, marking one of the heaviest attacks to date. The assault left one dead and caused significant infrastructure damage, including in the heavily targeted Yaroslavl region.
