Nanded district has emerged as a frontrunner in Maharashtra for crop insurance payouts under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, receiving Rs 813.93 crore in the initial phase, authorities have confirmed.
The overall payout is projected to exceed Rs 900 crore as claims from 21 revenue circles await processing, according to official sources. The insurance scheme has covered 4,34,819 farmers, with 8,29,737 applications submitted. Despite having 5,13,900 hectares insured, official records show that 7,27,932 hectares are affected.
District Collector Rahul Kardile attributes the region's exemplary performance to meticulous planning and efficient coordination between various departments, emphasizing the collective effort behind this substantial achievement.
