Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for judicious use of petroleum products in the wake of the West Asia crisis. Replying to a question on the sidelines of an event in Nagpur, he said the PM has made the most appropriate request to the citizens. ''We all know that there is a shortage of fuel and gas across the world due to the West Asia war involving America, Israel and Iran. Our neighbouring countries are facing a huge fuel crisis, and prices have gone up there. The fuel price in Pakistan is (Pakistani rupees) 450 per litre,'' he told reporters. Despite all this, PM Modi ensured that fuel supplies were not affected in India, he said. ''We are getting an adequate fuel supply,'' Fadnavis said. The country may also face a tough situation if people do not understand the global problem properly and do not use fuel judiciously, he said. ''Hence, all the citizens of India should follow what the PM has said,'' stressed the CM. Addressing a public event in Hyderabad earlier in the day, Modi said petroleum products should be used only as needed. ''Today, the need of the hour is to use petrol, gas, diesel and similar resources with restraint. We must use imported petroleum products only as needed. This will not only save foreign exchange but also reduce the adverse impact of war,'' the PM said.
