National Conference president Farooq Abdullah issued a stark warning on Tuesday, indicating that the country faces a looming energy crisis if the conflict in West Asia remains unresolved. 'A crisis is upon us: fuel crisis, gas crisis. We are heading towards destruction,' he warned, speaking to reporters.

Abdullah criticized the government's intent to transition schools to online platforms to conserve fuel, stating, 'Not every student has online access, and education is crucial.' He also commented on the country's deteriorating economy, stating, 'The economy is definitely in bad shape.' He linked current economic woes to the ongoing Iran-US conflict.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had encouraged fuel conservation to alleviate pressure on India's foreign exchange reserves from rising global energy prices. Abdullah also addressed the PDP's call for an alcohol ban, accusing them of lacking substantial issues while addressing the potential financial impact of such a ban on Jammu and Kashmir.
