Orbotix's European Ambitions: Drones, Deals, and Defence
Orbotix Industries, a defense startup, has opened a new drone production plant in Romania, aiming to enhance European capabilities amid rising security threats. With backing from U.S. and German investors, the company plans to expand production and export drones across Europe and beyond, emphasizing collaboration with Ukraine.
Orbotix Industries, the defense startup, has launched a new drone production facility in Ghimbav, Romania. The plant is set to be fully operational in three to six months, aiming to produce up to 800 drones monthly.
The facility marks a significant step in Europe's response to increasing security threats, particularly with ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Orbotix, founded in 2024 and headquartered in Warsaw, has previously developed drones resistant to jamming and spoofing, tested in Ukraine, Estonia, and Romania.
The startup recently secured 6.5 million euros from American and German investors to further its technology and expand drone production. Orbotix is also in talks with Ukrainian partners for a joint drone production venture under the EU's new SAFE rearmament fund, highlighting potential for European export growth.
