In an alert issued Wednesday, the Regional Weather Forecast Centre in Delhi predicts thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds, reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph, forecast for tonight. The maximum temperatures are anticipated to hover between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) latest bulletin.
Tuesday saw the maximum temperature at Safdarjung, Delhi's base station, reach 39.0 degrees Celsius, just slightly below the norm, while the minimum temperature was 27.6 degrees Celsius, above the typical average. Humidity levels fluctuated between 39 and 68 percent as easterly winds averaged 15 kmph. Delhi-NCR witnessed highs between 35.2 degrees at Mayur Vihar and 39.0 degrees at Safdarjung, with lows spanning between 25.5 degrees at Palam and 29 degrees in Noida.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, May 13, the IMD forecasts partly cloudy conditions with light showers and thunderstorms expected in the morning. Temperatures are predicted to peak between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, dipping to between 26 and 28 degrees at night. By mid-May, temperatures are anticipated to climb to the 40 to 42 degrees Celsius range as a fresh Western Disturbance and associated cyclonic circulations influence the weather in Northwest India, including three active cyclonic circulations over North Pakistan, West Rajasthan, and North Central Uttar Pradesh.
