India's Coal Gasification Boost: Pioneering Clean Energy Transition
Industry experts have praised India's Rs 37,500-crore incentive scheme for coal gasification, highlighting its strategic impact on clean energy and industrial resilience. This policy aims to leverage domestic coal reserves, reduce import dependency, and enhance the country's energy independence amid global market volatility.
On Wednesday, industry leaders praised India's policy support for coal gasification, labeling it as a strategic and timely move amidst geopolitical tensions affecting global energy markets. This decision by the Union Cabinet introduces a Rs 37,500-crore incentive scheme to promote coal gasification, aiming to boost clean energy production and curb imports of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), urea, and methanol.
New Era Cleantech Solution, a Maharashtra-based company, emphasized the opportunity to transform India's vast coal reserves into valuable resources like fertilizers and hydrogen, reducing foreign dependency. Its ongoing projects are part of a broader push for integrated coal gasification and carbon capture efforts.
Mission Energy Foundation has hailed this as a landmark step towards India's clean energy transition and industrial decarbonization. The initiative is forecasted to drive investment, technology advancement, and infrastructure development crucial for India's energy security.
