NIA Secures Transit Remand for Extradited Narco-Terrorist
A Delhi court approved a two-day transit remand for the NIA to transfer extradited narco-terrorist Iqbal Singh, alias Shera, to Punjab. Extradited from Portugal, Singh is accused of planning narcotic smuggling across the Pakistan border, channelizing drug proceeds to support terrorism through hawala networks.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has received a two-day transit remand to transport the extradited narco-terrorist, Iqbal Singh, also known as Shera, to Punjab. This decision comes after Singh was extradited from Portugal and appeared before Judge Pitambar Dutt at the Patiala House courts earlier on Wednesday.
Shera, originating from Amritsar in Punjab, is alleged to have orchestrated a narcotics smuggling scheme from Pakistan. The operation aimed to introduce drugs into the border state of Punjab. A non-bailable warrant against him had been pending since October 2020, highlighting the gravity of the charges and operations he is accused of.
The agency asserts that Shera coordinated the drug trafficking and subsequently funneled the proceeds through hawala networks. These funds reportedly supported operatives of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) terrorist group based in Pakistan and Kashmir, facilitating further terror-related activities in the region.
