Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a notable appearance at the Vidhan Bhavan on Thursday, arriving on a motorcycle to attend the swearing-in ceremony of new members of the legislative council.

The chief minister's unconventional mode of transport aligns with measures following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to reduce fuel consumption amid disruptions due to the conflict in West Asia.

In line with this fuel-saving initiative, Fadnavis announced a series of austerity measures, including halving the number of vehicles in ministerial convoys and halting foreign tours of government officials, highlighting India's reliance on West Asian energy imports.
