In a terrifying incident on Monday, a young woman was viciously attacked by her boyfriend in the Kajamalai area of Tiruchirappalli. The confrontation occurred near the Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College and close to important police offices, raising concerns about safety in the neighborhood.
Authorities revealed that the victim, a college student, faced familial opposition to her relationship. Her attacker, a native of Ramanathapuram district and a graduate of St Joseph's College, engaged in a violent dispute with her, assaulting her with a stone. Quick-thinking bystanders intervened, rushing her to a hospital and detaining the attacker until police arrived. An investigation by the Trichy City Police is ongoing.
In another alarming incident, Tamil Nadu Police arrested a woman linked to the murder of 77-year-old Visalatchi Rajagopal in Coimbatore. The suspect, Saroja, known to the victim for 15 years, confessed to the crime after a meticulous police probe highlighted inconsistencies in her account. She allegedly killed the elderly woman for her gold jewelry. The accused, now in custody, led police to recover the stolen items.
