Tax officials hold awareness programme on new income tax rule

Individual taxpayers, professionals and representatives of business enterprises on Friday gathered here to learn various aspects of the new income tax legislation that came into effect from April this year.

The Income Tax Department, Rajasthan Region, organised an awareness programme as part of the nationwide outreach campaign 'PRARAMBH 2026' to create awareness about the New Income-tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules, 2026, among taxpayers and stakeholders.

Representatives of industries, multinational companies, members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, charitable trusts, tax professionals, taxpayers and departmental officials attended the programme, according to a release.

Sumeet Kumar, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Rajasthan, highlighted the government's efforts towards simplification of tax laws, trust-based governance, decriminalisation of various provisions of the Income-tax Act, timely taxpayer services and data-driven NUDGE (Non-intrusive Usage of Data to Guide and Enable) campaigns aimed at promoting voluntary compliance.

During the event, brochures, Samvaad sessions, comic books, 'Kar Setu', and a locally developed taxpayer guidance booklet on forms, sections and rules under the new tax regime were launched.

According to officials, the booklet contains comparative tables of old and new forms and sections along with QR codes for 'Kar Setu', 'Kar Sathi', comic books and a converter utility for migration from the old income tax rule to the new Income Tax Act, 2025.
