Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh on Friday launched a scheme to improve the socio-economic condition of ''ultra poor'' families in the state.

Singh unveiled the Jharkhand Inclusive Livelihood Scheme (JH-SAY) here during the day.

''The state government is committed to uplift poor families. We are working with the aim that no poor family should be left behind from the mainstream of development. The scheme launched today will certainly improve the socio-economic condition of ultra poor families,'' she said.

Singh also said Jharkhand's Ultra Poor Graduation Approach (UPAJ) scheme had emerged as a successful model and gained recognition at the national level.

Initially, 16,000 ultra-poor families will be covered under the JH-SAY, and 9,000 more in the coming days, she said.

The minister was speaking here at a programme organised by the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) and the Nudge Institute.

During the event, she also distributed cheques worth over Rs 44 crore for implementing the scheme in six districts of the state.
