In a significant political development, the anticipated meeting between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, scheduled for Thursday in Delhi, has been deferred. The postponement comes amid heightened political activity in Tamil Nadu as Congress attempts to regain its foothold in the region.
Chief Minister Vijay, who marked his inaugural visit to the national capital after taking office, engaged in high-level discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions emphasized cultural practices in governmental functions and potential industrial projects in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister highlighted the retrieval of ancient copper plates and sought clarity on the singing order of invocation songs during state events.
Furthermore, during his discussions, CM Vijay advocated for the establishment of key defense and aviation facilities in Tamil Nadu. He also expressed concerns over the Karnataka government's plans for the Mekedatu Dam project. The project is perceived as contrary to judicial and tribunal rulings on the Cauvery water dispute, raising regional tensions.
