In a dramatic turn of events, the residence of former Keralam Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan became a flashpoint of violence as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials conducted raids linked to a high-profile money laundering case on Wednesday. The unrest saw Communist Party of India (Marxist) supporters allegedly hurling bricks at vehicles belonging to ED personnel.
Following the violent disruptions, Keralam DGP Ravada Azad Chandrasekhar announced that robust legal action was in progress against individuals responsible for the attacks on ED officials. 'We have registered a case against eight individuals and identified others involved. Action will follow,' he assured the press.
Simultaneously, Keralam Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala expressed concern, noting the state government and the Home Ministry had no prior knowledge of the ED raids. He alleged covert political agreements between the BJP and CPI(M), further complicating the narrative amid accusations of central agencies being used for political retribution.
