Amit Shah on Infiltration and Border Security in West Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called on infiltrators to return to their countries voluntarily, assuring that those who do so will not face legal action in India. Shah commended West Bengal's Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for aiding the Border Security Force (BSF) by transferring 600 hectares of land swiftly.

During a public address in Gandhinagar, Shah reiterated the government's commitment to expedite fencing along the Bangladesh border. He credited Adhikari with facilitating this effort by promptly transferring land to the BSF, including 121 hectares in the strategically significant 'Chicken Neck' area.

Shah emphasized the government's determination to identify and deport infiltrators, while Adhikari disclosed that additional land has been allocated for BSF operations across West Bengal. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a High-Level Committee on Demographic Changes to tackle challenges arising from demographic shifts linked to illegal immigration.
