TMC Accuses BJP of Conspiring Against Poor in Annapurna Yojna
TMC MP Saugata Roy criticizes the BJP's Annapurna Yojna, alleging a conspiracy in simplifying aid access through a complex 12-page form. This form could restrict beneficiary numbers, disadvantaging the poor. BJP's Suvendu Adhikari defended the scheme, aimed at achieving women's economic independence through monthly financial aid.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating a conspiracy with their recently unveiled 'Annapurna Yojna' scheme. He argues that the 12-page application form is excessively complicated, making it difficult for impoverished citizens to complete, and thereby, potentially limiting the scheme's reach and efficacy.
Roy expressed his concerns about the intent behind the detailed form, claiming it would decrease the number of beneficiaries who can successfully apply. These suspicions coincide with the release of the proposed Annapurna Scheme forms by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, under which women would receive Rs 3,000 monthly for financial support.
In response, CM Adhikari highlighted the scheme's focus on women's economic empowerment, noting the BJP's commitment from their Sankalp Patra. He acknowledged concerns about applications from individuals outside the eligibility criteria and assured that the form would help create an accurate list of beneficiaries aimed at filtering potential non-eligible applicants.
