A tragic building collapse in Mehrauli, Delhi, resulted in the arrest of the 71-year-old building owner, Karamveer, officials reported on Monday. The building disaster claimed six lives and injured seven others.
Located in Gali No 5, Western Marg, near Saket Metro Station, the five-story structure crumbled, leaving rescue teams to sift through debris in a desperate search for survivors. Despite utilizing advanced mechanical equipment and sniffer dogs, no signs of life were detected, according to Suneel Kumar Singh, Commandant of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Authorities received the initial report of the collapse on Saturday at 7:35 pm from Police Station Mehrauli. Prompt response from local teams managed to initially rescue some individuals, as emergency agencies coordinated efforts. The NDRF remains on standby to continue debris removal as needed, Singh confirmed.
