BJP Demands Himachal CM's Resignation Following Local Election Setback

BJP Chief Spokesperson Randhir Sharma on Wednesday demanded that Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu resign on moral grounds, following the Congress government's performance in recent local elections. Sharma, addressing a press conference in Shimla, asserted that the elections served as a 'semi-final' to the upcoming Assembly elections.

Sharma said, 'The people of Himachal Pradesh have withdrawn their confidence from the Congress government. Having lost the semi-final, the Chief Minister should resign on moral grounds and seek a fresh mandate.' He also highlighted the BJP's decisive victories in municipal corporations, showcasing growing public support.

Alleging that Congress attempted to distance itself from the election results, Sharma criticized the ruling party for not fulfilling major promises. He further warned against any attempts to misuse official machinery in upcoming elections and stated that the BJP would oppose any such efforts.
