In a significant advancement for India's defense strategy, the fourth squadron of the S-400 Sudarshan air defense system from Russia has recently landed on Indian shores. This addition marks a further strengthening of the nation's long-range air defense capabilities, intended for prompt deployment in operational areas, according to defense sources.
The S-400 Sudarshan acquisition is part of a 2018 agreement to purchase five squadrons. While three arrived previously, the remaining two were delayed due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This cutting-edge system was pivotal during Operation Sindoor, notably downing a high-value Pakistani aircraft at an unprecedented range.
