At the Second BRICS Technical Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction, Himachal Pradesh made a mark by presenting its Geographic Information System (GIS)-driven Urban Resilience Platform, emphasizing its leadership in disaster preparedness through geospatial technology.

Special Secretary (Disaster Management) Dr. Pushpendra Rana represented the state, explaining its strategy to build resilient urban centers using technology. Dr. Rana urged viewing cities as interconnected 'living systems' where disasters impact multiple urban elements simultaneously.

The GIS-based Decision Support System in Himachal combines high-resolution imagery, surveys, and analytics, mapping over 15,000 properties to aid emergency response. The initiative includes integrating AI and ML for enhanced risk assessment and alerts, showcasing Himachal's commitment to climate-resilient urban governance.
