The Karkardooma Court in Delhi is poised to deliver its much-anticipated verdict on Thursday in the murder case involving Intelligence Bureau official Ankit Sharma, whose body was discovered in a drain during the North East Delhi riots in February 2020. Accused in the case are former MCD councillor Tahir Hussain, along with ten others.
According to charges filed by Delhi Police, Hussain and his associates face numerous allegations including criminal conspiracy, rioting, and promoting communal enmity. Charges were framed against them under various Indian Penal Code sections, highlighting the gravity of the case that has captured nationwide attention.
The case dates back to February 26, 2020, when Ankit Sharma's father filed a complaint. He alleged that the unrest began with protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act, leading to violent clashes. Sharma's tragic death has been attributed to brutal assault and arson aimed at inciting terror, as alleged in the complaint.
