The trial concerning the tragic rape and murder of a young girl in Nasrapur commenced in Pune. The parents of the three-and-a-half-year-old victim fought back tears while providing testimony in the special court session.
Accused Bhimrao Prabhakar Kamble, 65, faced charges framed against him by special judge S R Salunkhe. Prosecutor Ajay Misar revealed the intention to call 82 witnesses and sought additional charges for evidence destruction.
On Friday, six testimonies, including those of the victim's parents and local residents involved in the search efforts, were recorded. Some became emotional when confronted with crime-related images and CCTV footage.
The trial has garnered widespread attention, prompting the court to schedule daily hearings to expedite the case's resolution, following public outrage in Maharashtra after the crime occurred on May 1.
