Nagpur police have filed a case following threats received by BJP Minority Morcha leader Jamal Anwarul Haq Siddiqui. He was sent Whatsapp messages allegedly demanding a large sum to fund a plan targeting Congress leaders, according to officials.
Siddiqui, who lives in Dattatray Nagar, received these messages from an unknown source. The sender reportedly sought between Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore for orchestrating bomb attacks. The threat included harm to Siddiqui and his family if the funds were not paid. The crime falls under extortion and criminal intimidation, and a comprehensive investigation is currently in progress.
