Massive Seizure: Illicit Liquor Transport Thwarted in Jharkhand
Authorities in Jharkhand successfully intercepted a truck on its way to Bihar, seizing over 50,000 bottles of illegal liquor and arresting five individuals involved in the smuggling operation. The liquor, sourced from Haryana, was hidden beneath sacks of fodder and discovered during a police search.

In a significant operation, Jharkhand police intercepted a truck carrying more than 50,000 bottles of illegal liquor destined for Bihar, a state that prohibits alcohol sales. The operation took place in Latehar where five people were arrested for allegedly smuggling the illicit cargo from Haryana.
Acting on intelligence, police stopped the truck along the Ranchi-Latehar road. Officers discovered the hidden contraband stowed beneath sacks of fodder in the truck bed. Additionally, two escort vehicles were found carrying liquor crates, further implicating the suspects.
The police successfully seized 1,054 crates of liquor, revealing that the supply chain started in Haryana and was heading to the dry state of Bihar. Those apprehended include Suraj Kumar, Gautam Kumar, Chhotu Kumar Yadav, Ramkumar Pandey, and Prakash Kumar Ravani, who are currently undergoing interrogation.
