Tensions Escalate as Russia Plans New Strike on Ukraine
President Zelenskiy warns of a major new Russian attack on Ukraine, citing intelligence sources. Preparations by Ukrainian forces are underway to counter the threat. This development comes as Russia announces plans for systematic strikes on Kyiv, allegedly in retaliation for a recent drone strike in Luhansk.
Ukraine is bracing for a significant new offensive from Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Friday through Telegram, citing intelligence reports.
In his nightly address, Zelenskiy stated, "We possess intelligence about an impending large-scale strike by Russia." He confirmed that Ukrainian forces, including the Air Force, are on high alert, ready to defend their skies around the clock.
Russia declared its intention to carry out "systematic strikes" on Kyiv, advising foreigners and diplomats to evacuate. This move is claimed as a response to a recent drone attack in Ukraine's Luhansk region, which Ukraine denies involvement in. Recent Russian strikes have resulted in casualties in Kyiv, prompting Zelenskiy to call for increased sanctions and swift air defense agreements with international partners.
